A total of 81 black-and-white episodes were produced, with each installment running 25 minutes in length.\u00a0ABC<\/a>\u00a0aired daytime\u00a0reruns<\/a>\u00a0of the series on Saturdays and Sundays from 1959 to 1960 and then again from 1964 to 1965.\r\n

Synopsis<\/h2>\r\n[<\/span>edit<\/a>]<\/span><\/span>\r\n\r\n<\/div>\r\nThe series starred\u00a0Gail Davis<\/a>\u00a0as Annie Oakley, with\u00a0Brad Johnson<\/a>\u00a0as Deputy Sheriff Lofty Craig and\u00a0Jimmy Hawkins<\/a>\u00a0as Annie's little brother, Tagg Oakley; Hawkins appeared in 80 of the series' 81 episodes. In the\u00a0pilot<\/a>\u00a0episode, \"Bull's Eye\", Tagg is played by\u00a0Billy Gray<\/a>\u00a0(better known for his role as James \"Bud\" Anderson, Jr. on the TV version of\u00a0Father Knows Best<\/a><\/i>).[<\/span>1]<\/span><\/a><\/sup>\u00a0After playing Tagg in the\u00a0Annie Oakley<\/i>\u00a0pilot, Gray joined the cast of\u00a0Father Knows Best<\/i>\u00a0(which premiered in October 1954, nine months after the initial broadcast of\u00a0Annie Oakley<\/i>).\r\n\r\nIn the series, Annie Oakley rides a horse named Target: Tagg's horse is Pixie, and Lofty's mount is Forest.[<\/span>2]<\/span><\/a><\/sup>\u00a0Annie and Tagg live in the fictional town of Diablo,\u00a0Arizona<\/a>\u00a0with their uncle, Sheriff Luke MacTavish, who is frequently away when trouble starts; it is then up to straight-shooting Annie and her \"silent suitor\", Lofty Craig, to rescue law-abiding neighbors and arrest outlaws.[<\/span>2]<\/span><\/a><\/sup>\u00a0Tagg is often told to stay in town and out of the way. When the need arises to relay important new information or capture by outlaws, he usually ends up in the middle of each episode's adventure.\r\n\r\nAnnie usually wears the same fringed cowgirl outfit, of which 15 (or more) copies were made during the show's production.[<\/span>3]<\/span><\/a><\/sup>\u00a0She wears her hair in braided\u00a0pigtails<\/a>.
